Trekking away from the crowds in th region of the beautiful Tichka plateau
To the west of the Tizi-n-Test pass lie the Western High Atlas mountains, a relatively undiscovered region of traditional adobe and stone villages lost in remote valleys, beautiful gorges where water flows year-round and the verdant high pastures of the Tichka plateau. Our trek takes us up from the Test pass along sandy trails that wend their way through oak forests en route to a magnificent high plateau where nomads live for the summer months in stone shelters. The hike is not one of our most physically challenging so it's ideal for weekend walkers looking for an escape into a totally different world. On trek we camp in wilderness locations, with two nights spent in village houses with local families. Before the trek we get the chance to look round Marrakech, Morocco's most exotic city, from our base in a comfortable "riad" guesthouse, and post trip we visit the southern city of Taroudant before finishing in the resort of Agadir on the Atlantic coast.
