Hiking Nomad Trails to the summit
of M’Goun
M’goun lies in the beautiful Central High Atlas, and at 4068m
is the second highest peak in Morocco. This five day trek takes us from
Ait Bougmez, one of the most inviting and friendly trailheads in
the High Atlas, to the summit of M’Goun along nomad trails,
avoiding for the most part the trails of other trekking groups.
Camping in wilderness locations, with only the occasional nomad
family for company, it’s a perfect escape for weekend hiker
to more experienced trekker. The summit is a non-technical climb
offering some of the best views in Morocco over the south of the
country to the fringes of the Sahara desert. En route to Ait Bougmez
we visit the splendid Ouzoud Falls and post-trek there’s a
chance to explore Morocco’s most exotic city, Marrakech.
