3. Mt Toubkal - the highest peak north of the equator in Africa. Great views, great challenge.

4. Chefchaouen - Morocco's prettiest town nestled into the beautiful Rif Mountains in the north.

5. Erg Chebbi dunes - the biggest, most spectacular and most scenic sand dunes in Morocco.

6. Essaouira - the most appealing seaside spot on the Atlantic. Bohemian and beautiful.

7. The Ait Bougmez Valley - The High Atlas' most stunning valley. Great trekking, great people.

8. The Draa Valley - A palm oasis par excellence, cultural and attractive, the real Africa.

9. The Ait Banhaddou Ksour - quite simply Morocco's best preserved kasbah complex.

10. Telouet Kasbah - a sublime fading relic of former glory high in the Atlas Mountains.

11. Tafraoute - the heart of the superb Anti-Atlas. A surreal boulder-strewn landscape.

12. The Middle Atlas Mountains - an unpopulated range perfect for camping and hiking.

13. Sefrou, Azrou and Immouzer - charming Middle Atlas towns for stopovers en route to Fez.

14. Meknes - the most impressive Imperial Moroccan town, in terms of historical monuments.

15. The Roman ruins at Volubilis - near Meknes, a great open site for historical enthusiasts.

16. The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca - an impressive and extraordinary feat of engineering

17. Oukaimeden - novelty African ski resort, excellent trekking/mountain biking base in summer

18. Dakhla - deep south watersports and new resort base that will expand in coming years

19. Oualidia - peaceful fishing village on the Atlantic. Beautiful lagoon and great seafood.

20. Tangiers - love it or hate it, this legendary city remains a melting pot between Europe and Africa.
